It is the same every January, all the papers are full of diet tips and how to change your life in the new year. To be honest non of us buy it! We feel washed out from the all the Christmas and New Year festivities the last thing we want to do is cut down on calories when it is so cold outside and all we really want is a hot chocolate or warm buttered toast.
So my new year philosophy is simple, do not read any articles that propose to transform you, ignore all diet marketing in your local supermarket and free yourself from the guilt, my mantra is I love myself just the way I am and that is the most important message you should be sending to your brain in January.
Now is a good time to start looking at your wardrobe, pull out a few things that you haven't worn for at least a year and without thinking to hard about it put them in a bag ready for your local charity shop. It is a refeshing feeling and helps with the need to 'cleanse' in January. If you have time try on all your clothes and discard anything which does not fit comfortably or looks a bit tired. All this tidying will make space for new clothes once Spring arrives.
